Musician Wall Decor Seated Harpist (m3007)

Only 1 left in-stock

The earliest harps are believed to have originated in ancient Egypt circa 2500 BC. The more familiar version found its modern form and first appeared in Ireland around 800 AD. Today they are a beautiful addition to an orchestra or soothing when played on their own. Dressed in beautiful evening-wear, she seems transfixed as the wind blows through her hair on an open air stage as she plays her melody. The artisan uses capiz oyster shells to highlight the reflective material in her blouse.

The basic frame of the harpist is created using tin, which is powder coated with a black finish. The frame is reinforced using tin wire along the inner edge. Capiz is an oyster shell and the primary purpose of the oyster is as a source of food. However, the by-product, the shell, can be used for decoration. Due to it being a natural material, the natural colors of the capiz come through as tans and browns underneath the paint. The harpist is hand-painted using metallic paint.
